The Olympians
In Greek mythology, the twelves Olympians were the major deities. Their name originated from Mount Olympus, which was their place of residence:
Hestia (original twelve olympians got replaced by Dionysus since she wasn’t involved in many myths) – goddess of the hearth
Zeus – god of the sky and the thunder
Hera – goddesss of marriage / queen of the gods
Poseidon – god of the sea
Demeter – goddess of grain and agriculture
Athena – gooddess of wisdom and war
Apollo – god of light, music and poetry
Artemis – goddess of the hunt, the moon, and chastity
Ares – god of war
Aphrodite – goddess of love, beauty, sexual pleasure and fertility
Hephaestus – god of blacksmiths and fire
Hermes – the messenger of the gods
Dionysus – god of fertility and wine
